"The Gift of Tongues is Real!"

28 November 2016

Wow today is beautiful here in Chile. It’s still so hard for me to believe it’s almost December and it is turning into summer here! I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving and ate amazing food! Things are crazy busy down here in Chile... the stores are busy and people are getting ready for the holidays! I decorated our house for Christmas!

Things are going amazing in our sector and I LOVE MY COMPANION!! It’s been so amazing to watch her grow in so many ways… The gift of tongues is real! We were able to find 5 new investigators this week! One of them is Franco and he is the nephew of a hermana in our ward and we are teaching him and she is so helpful and brought him to church with her yesterday and it was so fun to see how excited she was to have him there! We are seeing miracles...

We have been praying to have opportunities to serve people and Friday we say two older ladies with really heavy bags and they were struggling and so we offered to help and they gladly accepted and then we ended up teaching them The Restoration!!! It was amazing and they had so many questions and Marta even started crying when she asked about her brother that had passed away and we had the answer!! I love being able to serve people and then being able to teach them, makes it even sweeter... we have a leccion with them tonight! Whoooo! As a mission we are focusing on teaching simple and powerful and it is amazing. My Spanish is improving more than I could have imagined! I feel so very blessed EVERYDAY!!! The mission really does just keep getting better! We have a lot of fun plans this month to sing in different parks as a Zone! We pray multiple times a day praying that we can find the people that are waiting for this perfect gospel!

The work really depends on our attitude! I am literally happy every day and love being a missionary... I say it every week but it’s so true! ... I love everything about the mission... And we get our Christmas cards to pass out this week and I am so excited!!!! I hope you are all staying warm and enjoying the holidays... I love you all so very much! The mission is changing my life in so many ways. Happy Birthday to my Beautiful mom tomorrow... if you see her wish her a happy birthday... she is the best!!! Love you all!

New Companion and Now Serving in the City of Osorno

21 November 2016

This week was amazing! My new companion is Hermana Hanosek! She is amazing… She is from Salem, Oregon! She is 19 years old and it has been amazing to watch her grow this week. Her Spanish is really coming along! I have loved teaching her the ropes of Chile haha it’s been such a fast week! My heart broke a little leaving beautiful Rio Bueno. This ward is amazing... We share the ward with the Zone Leaders and they have more of Centro and we have up higher. The members in our ward are amazing. They are doctors, business owners, just all around amazing people. For church I got to give a short little talk about the mission for me... We are in the Stake Center for church and it is huge and I love it! This ward really is already so special! I am so happy to be in this sector!

Saturday night we had a church open house with missionaries from our Zone and it was super cool to invite people off the streets to come and see! We have lots of work to do in this sector and it’s a little tough because Hermana Hanosek can’t speak too much yet but it’s been so fun to work with her! We have about 2 investigators and we taught a new investigator yesterday! It’s so weird to just leave investigators and have all new ones! I love it though! Nothing better than finding and teaching! It’s starting to get really hot down here in Osorno and everyone is getting ready for Christmas, its really messing with me haha. Hermana Hanosek and I have lots of plans this week and have 4 citas this night and she is so excited! I love her so much! I seriously have had the best companions and the best sectors! The mission really does just keep getting better!

I love this work so much and know we are going to see so many miracles in this sector! I hope you all have an amazing Thanksgiving this week... They do not celebrate it here! I love you all so much and feel your love and prayers every day! I cannot believe how fast time is going! Lovvveee youuuu allll!! Love the happiest misionera en Chile!

Leaving to Train a New Hermana

14 November 2016

We got a call from the APs last night telling us that the Lord has callings for Hermana Tripp and me! I’m going to be training a Hermana from Oregon... I believe her name is Hermana Handsek... and Hermana Tripp will be staying in Rio Bueno and is training a new missionary from Spain!! We could not believe it! Hermana Arroyo called us and was so happy for us! Hermana Arroyo served in the same sector that I am going to for 6 months and she said that I am going to love it! I am SUPER EXCITED, AND SUPER NERVOUS, AND HAPPY AND SAD. I love Rio Bueno with all of my heart... I have learned so much from the members..., and learned so much about myself and grown so much! I’m soooo grateful for my sweet Hermana Tripp this cambio literally felt like 2 weeks THE TIME GOES SO FAST! We have about 13 investigators in Rio Bueno and it breaks my heart to leave them but they aren’t my investigators they are the Lord’s. I love this work so much and feel soooo blessed to have served in the grand and beautiful Rio Bueno. I’ll be leaving the countryside and heading to the city... I will be in the same ward as Presidente Isom, so that will be fun!

I always forget to tell you guys the funny things that happen to me in the week. This week we were leaving the house of our investigator Scarlet and she was walking us out of her house to say goodbye and I shut the door behind me... and it locked and the keys were inside... The only way to get in was through the window and it had bars and good thing she is super skinny. She luckily climbed through the window and got in... I felt so dumb, but it was funny! She is 19 and has the CUTEST LITTLE BABY! I love her so much, she has had a hard life but just carries on and is so happy! I still can’t believe that I am leaving Rio Bueno... Time is literally the craziest thing... I feel like I just barely left Puerto Montt! I love you all so very much and know that this work is His work and there is no better feeling than bringing His children unto Him. I love this country. I love ALL my beautiful companions! I love this mission... But most importantly I love my Savior and Heavenly Father... They have given us a perfect plan of HAPPINESS. I love you all so much and thank you all for your love and support! I’m super nervous to train but feel soooo blessed... it will be an adventure!

Best Mission in the World

7 November 2016

Hola!! So much to say so little time... here we go...

This week so much happened. So many lessons taught. 5 new investigators. 2 new families that we are teaching. The work is exploding here in Rio Bueno.

This week we had our festival de la primavera. It turned out beautiful with the help of Hno Julio we just brought in a bunch of leaves and flowers from outside! Hno Julio knows how to decorate. It turned out beautiful... We all sang for talents and ate and our leader missional shared a spiritual thought.

Saturday morning we had a service project with our Zone and it was soooo fun and felt so good to go rake grass and it was just so fun for me. We got to meet and talk to all the sweet old people there... the oldest lady was 97 years old... they were so sweet and I was talking to one sweet lady and she just started to cry and told me how happy she was that I was talking to her. So much fun!!!

This week we also taught our investigator Andrea and her 3 daughters! We shared a video about how important the family is and then we shared more of the plan of salvation with them! They have so many questions and are super cute and just listen to everything we have to say.

Yesterday we had one of my favorite lessons in the mission. I wish you could have all been there haha... So Friday we contacted our taxi driver and right off the bat we knew he was prepared to receive the gospel. He had so many questions and was telling us how he has been searching for a church he likes... So we got all his information and yesterday we went to his house. His name is Erdvin and his wife is Yessina...they have 3 kids... Matius 17, Martin 10, Isabella 4... This family is ORO (gold) we shared the same video of the family and then we changed our plans and taught the restoration!! And I have never felt the Spirit so strong in a lesson. Hna Tripp and I were teaching with so much power. We had Yessina read from Joseph Smith History and she just keep reading and reading... you could just tell that she wanted to find out what happened next... And when she read the first vision the Spirit was so strong. They had so many questions about Joseph Smith and just everything... It was perfect and their kids were just sitting there listening to everything we had to say. I wish I could explain the whole lesson haha but it was all just so amazing. I KNOW THAT HEAVENLY FATHER IS PREPARING HIS CHILDREN TO HEAR THIS MESSAGE. They are excited to read more and they want the Book of Mormon! I think Hna Tripp and I left with the biggest smiles on our faces! I love this work so much. I wish I could say all the amazing things that happened this week but one hour is just way too short. I love this gospel with all of my heart! I know that He is preparing His children to receive this message and I feel so blessed to be a missionary! I know that Jose Smith is a Profeta!

Also today we went on an adventure with Hno Julio, Humberto, y Anita... I just want you to all know that I am in the most beautiful mission in the whole world!!!! I love this country and the amazing people. I’m serious when I say the weeks just keep getting better!

"I Left That Lesson with the Biggest Smile on my Face."

31 October 2016

So much has happened this week so here we go!

Lunes we had an awesome noche de hogar with the presidente of our rama and with familia Moreno and two non-members. We talked about prayer and how important it is that we pray night and morning... I hope all of you are saying your prayers :) Prayer is such a blessing from our Heavenly Father.

Tuesday I had intercambios with Hermana Chacon again!!! I love her so much and this intercambio she had me start and do all the lessons in her sector and it really showed me how far I have come on the mission... I love teaching so much… It was so fun to be with Hermana Chacon and be in her sector. She taught me how to make arepas from Columbia they are so good!

Miercoles we had a leccion with Karla (our investigator), her mom and her two aunts who aren’t members and we were sharing about the plan of salvation and how we will have perfected bodies when we are resurrected and her aunt who is really sick just started crying and so I started crying and it was super spiritual!  I think the plan of salvation is my favorite lesson to teach! Wednesday night we taught our new investigator Mariella about the plan of salvation as well because her daughter that is 23 anos (it’s hard to write in English haha) she got told that her heart will only last her about 5 more years and during the lesson she was listening to every word we said. Love it, love it!

Thursday was seriously the hottest day of my mission... We were dying of heat... There is a hole in the ozone layer here in Osorno so the sun is sooooo strong! Now I know how Elder Durrant feels in the DR every day haha. It was crazy! But today it’s raining super hard haha.
We taught our new investigators Andrea, and her little girl Fernanda and then she has a little girl Alyson who is 2 years old and she just kept hugging us and laying her head on our laps during the lesson it was so cute! We also taught them the plan de slavacion and the spirit was so strong. I think I left that lesson with the biggest smile on my face. Nothing makes me happier than teaching people that are so ready for this gospel! Andrea is pregnant and also has another girl who is 16 we are hoping to teach this week!

This weekend we had conferencia de estaca and it made me so happy to see so many beautiful members! I love Chile so much! Its soooooo beautiful... I thought winter was the greatest thing ever but now it just keeps getting better! We are going to be having a celebration of spring this Friday and Hermana and I are in charge so we will see how that goes! I’m soooo excited… there will be lots of cute pictures! I love love love this sector I could be here for my whole mission I believe! Haha love you all so much! Can’t believe tomorrow is November! I would love love love to receive Christmas cards from you all!
