How Did The Pioneers Do It?

This week was a rough one my friends! Winter has hit Chile! Monday after writing, me and Hermana Adams went to a nearby store and bought empanadas to eat and then we were in a lesson that night and Hermana Adams was not talking and acting different! We left and she was like, “Hermana, I am going to throw up…” She threw up the whole night... We called Hermana Isom in the morning and she was like, “Wash your hands, Hermana Falslev, or you will get it...” Yup, I got it and was sick that whole day. Not until Wednesday did we start feeling better! We aren’t sure if it was from the food we ate or a virus! But we are 100% better now! 

So, once we finally got better enough to work we had some awesome lessons with our investigators! One that was crazy but so good was Saturday. We went with an hermana from our ward to our investigator Yennifer!

We taught her the Plan of Salvation and we were teaching simple because this is all new for her. We got to the Atonement of Jesus Christ and I asked the hermana to share about it and she ended up talking for 30 minutes. Our lesson ended up being very long! But I know that Yennifer could feel the spirit! It’s awesome to watch an investigator slowly come to understand the things we are teaching! She is going to school right now to be a lawyer and has a little 6-year-old girl! 

Yesterday was literally freezing cold here in Puerto Montt! Hermana Adams and I could not feel our feet at all and I was soaking wet! We have both asked each other many times this week how on earth the pioneers did it! I cannot tell you how purple and red my hands were from the cold! I don’t remember it being this cold last year ha-ha but I’m sure I will be used to it in 2 weeks! 

Tomorrow we have Conferencia de Zona and President asked me to talk on endurance for 10 minutes so that will be fun. I’ve been studying it these last few days and I love endurance! We as members need to endure strongly until the end and it will NOT be easy but we can do it and we can do it with a smile on our face! As members of The Church of Jesus Christ we have the knowledge and the joy of the Gospel to carry us through all the rough times! As a missionary enduring is something so important... Even yesterday as I was so freezing cold I just tried my best to enjoy it all :)! I know there are people out there waiting for me and Hermana Adams... 

I love you all!!!!!! My testimony of the pioneers has grown greatly this week. ¿come lo hicieron?? How did they do it?

Loving the Intercambios

Just would like you to all know that I just barely went and got my feet done by a sweet hermana in my ward and I feel so much better! She took sooooo much dead skin off and I’m not kidding, my feet feel skinnier! I FEEL SO GOOD... she is an angel!

This week was really good, like always. I LOVE WHERE I AM AT IN MY MISSION! Just being in an amazing sector, being with an amazing companion, getting to help and work with other Hermana’s and so much more! I had intercambios with the one and only... Hermana Hanosek for the second time. She is the best and makes me so happy to see how far she has come. We found a new investigator Jose who was a chef for more than 20 years. We laughed the whole day and just had so much fun climbing rocky hills together!  

Then Friday I had intercambios with sweet little Hermana Ixmata from Guatemala! We had an amazing time together and she is so fun and cute! We sang hymns for all that had time to listen!

With intercambios, sometimes I feel like I am never with my companion, but it is awesome and I learn so much from all the Hermana’s! I love them all so very much!

This morning we did such a fun activity with them... We made them name cards, bookmarks with scriptures, pancakes and juice. It was like a brunch and it was so much fun! And after we had eaten, I had all the Hermana’s share one miracle that they had seen the last week in their sectors! I believe we all felt the Spirit as they all shared! It was amazing! I love them all so much! All from different parts of the world and we are here serving the Lord and helping our brothers and sisters!

It was amazing talking to my family last night! I wish I could talk to all of you! Thank you for all the love and support! I have the best people in my life!!!!!! It’s going to be a great week!

Well this morning I found out that my little brother will be going to the Morristown New Jersey Mission! I am so excited for him and I know that is exactly where he needs to be! I’m so happy that we will get 3 weeks together before he leaves! 

This week was crazy! Wednesday, we went to the airport and met up with a bunch of new sister missionaries that were flying to the bottom part of our mission. They were so sweet and excited and had the sweetest spirits about them. I can’t believe I was in their shoes 1 year ago. The time has flown by and it has been such an adventure, I am so excited for all of them! We got home late that night after helping all the Hermana’s get to their new sectors! I love all of them.

Friday, we went back to OSORNO! I’ll be honest, I miss that place! It feels like home there! We got to go to the house of the Hermanas in Osorno because I had left something when I left and Hermana Hess told me that Maria Triviño should be getting baptized very soon! I am so happy they are taking very good of the sector and the investigators! Conversion really is such a special, long process and I love how sure Maria Triviño wants to be with her decision! We then had Leaders Conference and just like always it was so good to hear from President and Hermana Isom! There have been amazing changes in the mission and we are seeing more miracles and more people coming unto Christ! We are really focusing on consecration ... President wants us to humble ourselves and give all we can to the Lord. I know we have so many miracles that are about to come fourth! It’s amazing to see the revelation that President is receiving for us! I wish you could all meet him! We had a bunch of Hermana’s in our house that night because they were headed to the bottom part of the mission. I was with two Hermana’s that are from the same group as me and it was so fun to talk and see how much we have all grown! 

Saturday was finally a day we had time to work in our sector! We found Yennifer and got to sing ‘I Know That My Redeemer Lives'… She has a friend that is a member and she is going to invite them to the next lesson we have! She is amazing! We are working with a sweet lady named Victoria and she is progressing but is scared to come to church! We find a lot of people but then we have to drop them because we can’t find them or get a hold of them! So, this transfer we are really focusing on helping them all progress! 

Yesterday was a beautiful Sunday here in Chile. It’s changing slowly into winter and I’m not excited! I just want sun everyday but it’s nice to have cool weather! 

I wish I could write about all the crazy things that happened this week but it would take me way too long! ITS BEEN A CRAZY WEEK! I am so grateful to be here in beautiful Chile... helping my brothers and sister to come unto Christ! I feel so blessed to testify that He lives every day! I love being a missionary in these last days. I am so excited for my little brother to go out and help our brother and sisters as well! There is nothing greater than this work!

Bus Accident

I don’t know what to even say this week! It was a long week ha-ha... 

Last night everyone received their cambios but me and Hermana Adams will be staying together for another cambio here in Libertad... WE ARE SO EXCITED! As we have seen the Lord preparing so many people in our sectors! Hermana Tripp (who was my companion) called me last night because she is a Hermana Leader in another part of the mission to tell me that Javier, one of the investigators me and Hermana Hanosek taught got baptized Saturday!!! I don’t know if you guys remember me telling you about him but we found him walking by the mission home one day when we went to pick up food from Hermana Isom and from there on we had many lessons teaching him and he always came to church. I knew from the moment I met him he would be baptized! When I heard that he had been baptized I was filled with so much joy! I’m soooo grateful for Hermana Isom called us that day to see if we wanted their leftover food… The Lord truly works in amazing ways! Even though I didn’t get to teach him all the lessons I truly felt how much he wanted to know of the truth! I AM SO HAPPY! I believe he wants to serve a mission! I will attach a picture of us below for those of you who don’t remember! I was just so happy hearing that he had been baptized! 

During our week, we have just been working and working! Helping our investigators progress as much as possible! I just want them to be able to understand everything at once but that’s not how it works ha-ha. 

Now for the story of today... Yesterday we did not have p-day because it was Labor Day here. So today the Zone Leaders had planned an activity to go to the country about 15 minutes out of Puerto Montt... We were on our way and got in a crash. I don’t remember how it truly all happened. I just remember looking at my companion and she told me my nose was a little cut... and then I looked back and a few Elders had bloody noses and one Hermana had a hole in her lip. But really everyone is okay! The worst was a broken arm! We were protected from something that could have been a lot worse! And we had to take an ambulance to the hospital even though we were okay and within 10 minutes of sitting in the hospital an old little grandma comes in and starts throwing up a ton of blood... it was insane... sorry if that’s too much information... Lets just say the hospitals are a lot worse here in Chile. BUT I AM OKAY! Just look like I got in a fight ha-ha. I know Heavenly Father was looking out for us because the buses here do not have seat belts! 

We have lots to do this week because of cambios and so tomorrow we get to sit in the airport waiting for missionaries and help them get to their sector! It’s going to be a great week and I feel so blessed! I love, love, love being a missionary!! Happy Birthday shout out to my sweet beautiful Grandma Falslev! And I am so excited to hear where my little brother Peyton will be serving the Lord this week!!! Missions truly are life changing!
